ATI Remote Proctoring: Setup Checklist for Test Day

To sit an ATI exam remotely you need a laptop or desktop running Google Chrome with the Proctorio extension, a webcam and microphone, a stable connection, a photo ID and a quiet room you can scan on camera. Tablets and phones are not allowed. Run the dry-run assessment a day or two before, not an hour before.

Tech checklist

Desktop or laptop — no iPads, tablets or phones
Google Chrome, up to date, with the Proctorio extension installed
Working webcam (320x240 VGA minimum, internal or external) and any microphone
Stable internet — ATI's student quick-start guide asks for 0.5–1 Mbps
Machine plugged in or fully charged
Camera and microphone tested inside Chrome beforehand

Room and materials checklist

School or government-issued photo ID within reach
A well-lit space where you will not be interrupted for the full exam
Desk cleared — be ready for a desk scan before the first question
One sheet of blank paper (destroy it afterwards) unless your program says otherwise
Second monitors unplugged; other applications and notifications closed
Your assessment ID from your instructor

Two days before: the dry run

ATI provides a Remote Proctoring Dry-Run in the student portal under the Test tab. Take it early enough that you can fix problems — a blocked extension, a camera Chrome cannot see, a corporate firewall — while support is still available.

If something goes wrong mid-exam

Stay at the desk and in frame; do not walk away from the camera.
If the connection drops, reconnect and log back in — the attempt normally resumes.
Use the in-portal troubleshooting link ("Issues with the website link?") and Proctorio support chat.
Screenshot or note any error message and email your instructor the same day.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take an ATI proctored exam on an iPad?

No. ATI's student guidance requires a desktop or laptop able to run Google Chrome; tablets and phones are excluded.

Do I need to install anything?

Yes — the Proctorio extension for Google Chrome. Some programs also ask you to remove and reinstall it if it misbehaves.

Can someone else be in the room?

No. Remote proctoring records audio and video, and another person in the room is a flag.

What ID is accepted?

A school or government-issued photo ID. Check with your program if your student card has no photo.
